The 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union ended the Cold War, an event described in the West as “the end of history.” Post-Soviet Russia appeared to embrace free markets and democratic elections so the West would begin to view the “new” Russia as a friend. In 2014 Russian forces invaded and annexed Crimea. A New Cold war had begun. Russia was ready for this conflict, having armed itself to the teeth with new weapons. The demise of the Soviet Union now appears to have been greatly exaggerated or, at worst, an intentional deception. Although the intelligence service of the Soviet Era, the KGB, was renamed the Federal Security Service, (its Russian acronym—FSB) it facilitated the rise of President Vladimir Putin to power, himself a former KGB official, proving the Security service from the former Soviet era was still very much in power within the “new” Russia. In The New Tactics of Global War, the authors explore what happened at the end of the Cold War and why Russia remains the number one threat to the United States. The moves and counter-moves of the present crisis stem from a long-running deception game. The authors investigate this game, allowing the reader to understand the “mind of the enemy.” “And behold a second beast, like a bear, and it raised itself up on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.” Daniel 7:5

Nyquist isn't an author who is after the limelight for limelight's sake. His ambition (and it's a noble ambition) is to inform, educate, and awaken the public to the imminent danger threatening us all. And qualified to do this he is. As a graduated political scientist and geostrategic analyst, J. R. Nyquist has been researching and publishing ever since the late 1980s. His first book of 1999, "Origins of the Fourth World War", is a top reference work on par with Anatoliy Golitsyn's "New Lies for Old" and explains both the deeper causes within the Western societies that have led to their decline, and the sophistication and ruthlessness of pan-communist strategic planning. An analyst of his level of understanding, under normal circumstances, should be working for top think-tanks or intelligence agencies. But these are not normal times. Sober strategic analysis unwilling to subscribe to the fairytale of collapsible communism 25 years ago is viewed as "sick think", as "paranoia" - the same way as Joseph McCarthy, James Angleton and Anatoliy Golitsyn were smeared as paranoiacs in their time.In a way, this new book, "The New Tactics of Global War" - though different in form - is a sequel to J. R. Nyquist's first quite prophetic book, "Origins of the Fourth World War". The cardinal difference is our present state of affairs, which couldn't be more catastrophic. Through never-ending lies (including the biggest lie they went out of business), through constant subversion and infiltration of the free world, the communists have achieved a miracle: a formerly strong Western world has allowed itself to weaken to the point of being vulnerable to a Russian/Chinese first strike nuclear attack. The communist military planners have always believed in the leadability and winnability of a nuclear war. They also understand that striking first is key for being victorious. As ruthless revolutionary communists they don't care about casualties. All they have in mind is victory for world communism so they can establish their tyrannical system on a global scale.Do get this book, read it thoroughly, and spread the word! We are truly living "in the final days of peace" (and freedom). And God knows how much time is left for us to awake and get ready. Here is a key quote from pages 14 and 15 of "The New Tactics of Global War":"According to the communist bloc defector Jan Sejna, 'Cheating that supports the main strategic goals of the Soviet Union is viewed in Moscow as entirely moral.' And so they have cheated while the United States was distracted in Iraq and Afghanistan. The exhausted Americans have been caught in a budgetary nightmare that has denuded the U.S. military. Suddenly, out of nowhere, there appears a reinvigorated Russia backed by China."Russia has not achieved its present military advantages by accident. Russia's military reemergence is the result of careful strategic planning and painstaking work. Two elements in this work were decisive: (1) the economic sabotage of the West through environmentalism and socialism; and (2) a long-range deception strategy that persuaded the West that Russia was weak and friendly."But why should the Russian government do this? Communism is dead. The conflict between socialism and capitalism is over. The Soviet Union is gone, never to return."There are several misunderstandings here. First, the Russian Federation IS the Soviet Union in all but name. Little of substance has changed. The same demons that occupied the Kremlin in 1945 are operating there in 2015."That is why the people of Ukraine revolted against the Kiev government - which was a Kremlin puppet state. Despite achieving independence with the fall of the Soviet Union, the Ukrainian elite was essentially Soviet in character. The leading figures in banking, politics and the media came from KGB or Communist Party structures. Free market reforms were half-hearted and ineffective. The masters of the old system, who owed their allegiance to Moscow, remained in control. The appearance of democracy was a facade which allowed the people a meaningless freedom of speech. But as it turns out, freedom of speech is never meaningless. The Ukrainian people used this solitary concession in an attempt to overthrow their Soviet masters, and in the process took down hundreds of statues of Lenin - YES LENIN! - that were still standing throughout Ukraine in 2013. The fall of communism in the Soviet Union had been overstated. It was part of a deception, as Golitsyn had predicted. The revolution in Ukraine, therefore, opens a breach in a previously impregnable wall of deception, in which the oppressed people seized an opportunity and demanded a way out of their 'liberalized' prison-house."Taking a wider view, the strategic situation has turned out exactly as KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn warned in the mid-1980s. It is a case of 'new lies for old'. As we see today, Russia has been found in violation of most of the arms control agreements it has signed. There is a continuity of policy here - a continuity in deceptive practices as well as a striving for war-winning advantages."Why would Russia seek war-winning advantages if they aren't planning a war?"

By Lila This book echoes what I have been saying for years that what is under the surface can be different than what the situation is portrayed to be. While in high school, I witnessed first hand in my little town how media twisted the reality of an unfortunate incident, while real truth that changed the picture was withheld and the news reporting was instead dramatic and “politically correct”.I remember hearing adults discuss with alarm Khruschev's comment “We will bury you,” back in the 60's. Now, years later when all seems well on the surface, what Baruch and Nyquist have to say makes a lot of sense, and we would be wise to wake up and smell the coffee.

Wallace There's an adage in counterintelligence: Deception is a wilderness of mirrors. This book eliminates refractions and navigates right to the heart of Russian (et al) machinations. It reveals an existential threat never before seen as clearly. Absolutely clear, concise, and convincing. A must read, must share indictment against the double game being played against the West by the geoplolitcal chess masters!
