About the Author Michael Stanley is the writing team of Michael Sears and Stanley Trollip, both South Africans by birth, and both with careers in academia and business. More importantly, they both enjoy their food and wine, and have travelled to different parts of the world to satisfy their cravings. Stanley is an excellent cook, and Michael likes to eat, which makes for a good partnership. Their detective, nicknamed "Kubu" or "Hippo" because of his size and appetite, also has broad tastes, but particularly enjoys the African recipes in this book.

They are all good. Wonder if Kubu likes Phane? I love all the Kubu books. Try them, the first is A Carrion Death: Introducing Detective Kubu They are good mysteries with a charming and intelligent protagonist. I can't wait for the next one in the series.

Sorry to say this pamphlet was a disappointment. I was not expecting a cookbook per say, and I did enjoy the brief explanations and information about mopane worms, potpie, and bobotie, etc., however, the "cheese and biscuits" was rather lame and the authors might have filled out the recipes with a mention of a groundnut or oxtail stew ( more readily "tweaked" as the authors mention in the forward. The clever illustrations and asides about Kubu are humorous, but I have the feeling the KUkBUk was an idea not fully realized and published in haste.
