Review
“From the above discussion, it is understood that the book has covered a large number of topics on high Mach number and high temperature flows. Also, the descriptive and lucid approach adapted in writing makes the reader comfortable in grasping the subject. It is strongly recommended to all who are working in the area of high enthalpy flows.” (The Aeronautical Journal, 1 June 2015)
From the Back Cover This is an introductory level textbook which explains the elements of high temperature and high-speed gas dynamics. Readers will gain an understanding on how the thermodynamic and transport properties of high temperature gas are determined from a microscopic viewpoint of the molecular gas dynamics, and how such properties affect the flow features, the shock waves and the nozzle flows, from a macroscopic viewpoint. In addition, the experimental facilities for the study on the high enthalpy flows are described in a concise and easy-to-understand style. Practical examples are given throughout emphasizing the application of the theory discussed. Each chapter ends with exercises/problems and solutions to enhance the learning experience.

Strongly recommended for students and reseachers of aerothermodynamics By Ashish Vashishtha As a researcher in hypersonic aerothermodynamics, I found High Enthalpy Gas Dynamics book is an excellent text book for beginners, graduate students, research scholars, post-doctoral fellows and academicians in the same field and strongly recommended. However, There are several books available on the similar subject, they are sometimes too specialized in their respective contents, one need to refer many books.High Enthalpy Gas dynamics book is very comprehensive and covers all the topics related to high temperature and high Mach number fluid flows in systematic manner from basic concepts to numerical methods and experimental techniques. The author has also provided many solved examples and practice problems along with CFD fortran codes in each chapters, for better hand-on experience to understand the application of concepts. The author have also discussed about the high-enthalpy experimental facilities and experimental aspects of the high temperature flow-field.The author has provided up-to-date bibliography and references for further reading, that makes this book helpful. The author starts with chapters on fundamentals of thermodynamics and wave propagation and moves onto advanced chapters such as high temperature flows, hypersonic flows, aerothermodynamics and high enthalpy facilities in a systematic way. The material covered and the text designed is user friendly and even a beginner can also understand the subject comfortably with this book.

By Shashank Khurana I am a Researcher working in China, and has referred to this book for enhancing my knowledge on certain topics.HEGD is an easy-to-follow book recommended for beginners, and together with some chapters exclusively for grad students, research professionals and even for academicians. A student (reader in general) can definitely count on this book for basic chapters on fundamentals of thermodynamics and wave propagation, and also for advanced understanding about the concepts dealt in detail related to high-temperature flows and aerothermodynamics of high-speed flows, and eventually serving as a quick compendium. A thorough insight into Experimental measurement of flow properties, and through CFD simulations, is an asset unique to this book in a way, in addition to various problems at the end of the chapters. Solved examples helps to establish correlation with the understanding of the text. Information about high enthalpy facilities is presented in a systematic way, together with the details about existing facilities in operation at different places.
