The SockKids - Solving the Mystery of Your Missing Socks!

Where do our missing socks go? Listeners find out in our children's series, The SockKids.

We follow the Socker family through many adventures, from encountering the slobbery mouth of the family dog to meeting Santa as he comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve to helping a fireman save a baby to the most shy Socker going to the school dance for the first time. Thanks to the time-travel opportunities afforded by the spin cycle of the washer, they learn about some of the most important humans in the world.

Children two and up and their parents will be drawn to the diversity of the family and the universal and timeless lessons they teach: Don't be afraid of new experiences, treat others as you would like to be treated, and, of course, beware of the spin cycle!

Making history fun & magical, By Selena Robins A unique, well written, highly creative story, bringing socks to life in this sweet tale of a family of socks who time travel through the washing machine. Laundry never sounded so colorful and fun, with the added bonus of teaching children about history in an amusing, loveable and magical way.Intertwining well developed characters, plus a real historical figure (Abraham Lincoln) in a story that will not only introduce children to this president, but also teaches them what Lincoln stood for, and the lessons that will resonate with adults so they may be able to share this time in history with a young child (children) in their life, creating reading memories they will always treasure. The SockKids is beautifully illustrated, colorful and the cute Socker images will bring a smile to your face, and the dialogue is sure to elicit laughter from both the reader and the child.Excellent book for teachers, parents, grandparents, babysitters, uncles and aunts (also makes a great gift) to read to young children and talk about the SockKids' adventures and how a talking, traveling family of socks interacts with each other. Each sock has a unique and imaginative name and personality, adding even more to the enjoyment of their story. This book will also open the door for children to create their own story, using one of their own socks from their drawer. This book is a keeper as the child will want to revisit the Sockers' adventures over and over again.Looking forward to the SockKids next exciting journey to see where the spin cycle takes them next.Highly recommend.

A Must Read By ksen A well-written story and great illustrations--what more can you ask for from a children's book?I love the creativity of the story as well as the many lessons that can be discussed after reading this, including President Lincoln and what he stood for. (I enjoy books that allow you to start a dialog with children who read them, and this book does not disappoint.) The book is easy to read, which makes it appealing because children can read it with an adult or on their own. I even giggled a few times while reading this, and any story that can put a smile on someone's face has my approval!I can't wait for more from this series. I would recommend this for children, parents, educators, and anyone who wants to read a creative book...and learn that it's the washing machine (and not the dryer) that "steals" your sock family!

By Laurie Kozlowski | Book Escape Reviews Reading has always been a special time for my 4 year old daughter and I. We normally cuddle up beneath the quilt with several pillows behind us as I read and we enjoy a good story. It is exciting to me as her Mother when she recognizes familiar words and phrases as she grows her vocabulary and learns to express herself. This is her review after reading The Sockkids Meet Lincoln:"It was good. I liked Stretch because he went on adventures."Reading this e-book became a family event. Everyone ended up in the bed listening to the story and our daughter and I shared a laugh when Grandpa Bleach started telling his story of his first time in the wash. My husband was intrigued with how a bit of important history was weaved in such a creative and unique fashion. I thought it was one of the most beautifully written, entertaining, and substantial children's books I have had the pleasure of reading. I loved the time travel theme and how it was so simply stated, my 4-year old could understand the concept and was attentive throughout the entire story wondering how this grand adventure would end. This book shows history in a way that will plant the seed for learning and encourage kids to expand their minds with creativity. I could easily see The Sockkids Meet Lincoln being in homes for years to come - handed down for generations. The illustrations were wonderful and vivid. A great read for the whole family! I highly recommend it!For adults looking for another great time travel story with suspense and adventure to read themselves, I also recommend Necessary Heartbreak and An Angel Comes Home, two intriguing page-turners that begin the When Time Forgets trilogy by Michael John Sullivan.~ Laurie KozlowskiNecessary Heartbreak: A Novel of Faith and ForgivenessAn Angel Comes Home
