Seven Bones is the story of one of the more bizarre murder investigations in Australia's history. About the Author Peter Seymour joined the New South Wales Police Force in 1980 as an eighteen-year-old and spent 24 years in Police, four years in Uniform, twelve years as a detective and eight years as a Police Prosecutor. He currently works at Blacktown City Council as the Team Leader for Community Enforcement. Peter played sport from an early age and represented high school in ruby league, cricket and soccer. He loves spending time with his family and watching his daughters undertake their own sports. His youngest daughter is a state cricket representative and former New South Wales metro west soccer player. His two eldest daughters are involved in dancing, cheerleading and physical culture. Peter enjoys the occasional game of golf.Jason Foster is an author, poet, journalist and History teacher at Jamison High School in Sydney’s western suburbs. He holds a Masters Degree in History and is currently studying a Diploma in Languages (Spanish). He has taught in Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain and Argentina. He has been published in American History magazines, Australian travel magazines and poetry anthologies in the United Kingdom. Seven Bones is his first major true crime novel.

Kent Australian Detective Peter Seymour's dedication and determination and what his gut feelings were telling him to solve this Historical Australian True Crime story is amazing. This story was recommended to me by a friend and I started to read it and got so engrossed and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Thank you for bringing this book to my attention SS. Peter thank you for sharing this story with us and for never giving up !! You are a special person!!I read this true crime on my Kindle and was thrilled that pictures were shown of Jean and Rosaline and the 7 bones were shone also. A bit creepy when one is looking at real evidence compared to reading a fiction crime with no pictures, just your imagination. My heart goes out to the parents and Jeans son, all the relatives and friends of these 2 woman. Absolutely a heart breaking tragedy. Thanks and kudos to Peter Seymour and his family for the years it took with all the interruptions of not being able to spend quality time as a family during the long hours and time it took to get Tom Keir put away.I have been following a case on live court TV here in the states that is very similar to Seven Bones, Two Wives Two Violent Murders. In this book Thomas Keir was married 2 times. His 1st wife Jean let some relatives know the abuse she was getting from Thomas who claims that Jean left him and their son for another man. Thomas was charged with the murder of his 2nd wife Rosaline but went free.The live case I am watching is a Police Sergeant, Drew Peterson who was married 4 times. He claims that his is young 4th wife left him for another man and she hasn't been found anywhere nor have any of her relatives, young children or friends heard from her. Drew said that his 3rd wife died by slipping getting into her bath tub, mind you there was no water, no towel to use when she got out of the tub, no soap scum in tub just blood. Her body was exhumed a few years ago and there was enough evidence to charge Drew with killing her. He has been in jail for 3 years and it has just come to live court. If it were a movie you'd be looking through spread fingers with that little voice in the back of your head screaming, 'no, you can't do that!' But you can't truly lookaway because you might miss what happens next. It is a piece that will keep you hooked until the very end, even if it means sitting on the edge of your seat with your hands over your eyes. Jean-Pierre's non-fiction piece has you questioning the importance of the life lessons that only a parent can teach you and how terribly things can go wrong when a child is left in the dark. We follow young James' battle through life's obstacles as he desperately tries to keep his head above water and navigate the transition from boy to man in the most unconventional and sickening way imaginable. It is a story of experimentation, curiosity and poor choices with a skewed view on reality that only a child can possess. Like James, you are left feeling as though important information hasn't been passed onto you throughout the narrative. As the narrative skips from life event to life event across a span of several years, the reader is left trying to piece together the moments in order to determine the direction of the story. It reads more as a confessional piece rather than based on a concept driven storyline. This is not necessarily a bad point; the unfolding events do keep you enthralled. But the central point of depression is lost throughout the majority of the piece. Each section provides enough shock value to keep the reader intrigued but the finer details are lacking. With no insight into the Haitian culture, the reader is left questioning why the young boy does the things that he does. It is clear the author intends culture and upbringing to be of consequence but without that insider knowledge of the Haitian culture the reader is merely left flabbergasted by the unfolding events. Regardless, this is an intriguing and thought provoking piece that leaves you wanting to know more. Animal lovers beware, this piece is not for the fainthearted but I'm going to recommend it as a must read anyway. I give The Untold Unlocking of Secrets a 3 out of 4 stars for its uncandid honesty.

From the Author With memoirs some readers are unable to fully enjoy the read because they feel bad. The Untold was hard to put into words and writing it brought a lot of emotions/memories I wished died a long time ago, but The Untold was written for a reason; to be enjoyed by the reader. To laugh at the any misfortunes that sound funny and be weirded out. Enjoy the book as it should be enjoyed and if you feel there are any details that were missed, they will all be addressed in book two. The Untold was written this way for a reason. The ending of the book is intentional, because this is book one of two. There are no reasons to leave anyone in a loop.

By Kathleen Pooler Untold Secrets is gripping story of a young man’s coming-of-age at a very early age in his native Haiti. The topics of childhood abandonment, sexual addiction and suicidal thoughts are addressed. The author does an excellent job of pulling the reader into his story through the voice of his younger self. The reality of his life is raw and difficult to face. His writing is clear and engaging and I definitely got the picture of what his coming-of-age was like. The cultural aspects were very interesting and added to the intrigue of the story.As a reader I had some difficulty with the repetitive sexually explicit details and felt there should have been warning about that. In his defense, I do think he wanted to tell his story as authentically as possible and in that vein, he did accomplish this authenticity.The main issue I had related to his story structure. I believe a memoir has to show redemption and leave the reader with a sense of satisfaction that the hero has overcome the obstacles. While he paints a very vivid picture of the obstacles, the ending fell flat and abruptly for me. I knew he had survived but I wanted to know a little more about that experience.This story is important in shedding light on the impact of childhood abandonment. I have to give it 3-stars due to multiple typos and what I felt as a reader to have an incomplete narrative arc. However, I would read other works by this author as I feel he possesses the ability to engage his reader and makes them want to know more.

I did enjoy the read, and I would read more from this author. I'd like to see the author hone his skills and would have liked more about the Haitian culture as a background.

Intense, Raw and Deeply Moving By Milliardaire Syverain The Untold Unlocking of Secrets is an intense coming of age memoir, clearly told, raw and deeply moving. What the author needs in this book is time. Time to look back and reflect about what he had lived and some distance from everything he went through. Time will afford the author for a deeper healing which is what memoir is all about. My congratulations to James Jean-Pierre for his first memoir, while I am pleading with him to continue writing and perhaps gifting the public with another memoir when he turns thirty.

Besides having many wonderful recipes, it has very helpful cooking hints and advice. These recipes have been used for many years. The Salmon Patties, Crock-Pot Fried Chicken, Meal Gravy, Country Fried Potatoes, Quick n' Simple Southwestern Chili, the Jam Cake and Pumpkin and Cream Cheese Roll Up are just a few examples of delicious recipes found in this cookbook. The entire dynamic of the family is altered and the tale provided interesting surprises along the way, as stages of the characters lives revealed themselves I couldn’t help but be captivated and moved with raw emotions.The family dynamics are exceedingly well drawn, providing great perspective on relationships between characters in such a way that you’ll sure to be fixated with the read. I found Theresa’s façade just as unnerving as the entities and could have easily seen this journey into the tale take a number of turns but delighted with the path the author has taken.Miller’s Island is an unforgettable tale that has certainly exceeded my expectations and has compelled me to read more of the author’s works now & in the future. I encourage others to read this tale and can't recommend it enough. ☆☆☆☆☆

The story takes you on a journey through the hearts, minds, body and souls of many characters. I loved discovering the mystery of what happened to the characters as I was confronted with ghosts both in the spiritual realm and from the past of the characters. Each character in the story needed to come to terms with choices or mistakes they made in the past and working through those ghost brought the real ghost story full circle.I did have some concerns with how one of the characters was protrayed. She suffered from a mental disorder and I felt the initial psychotic break as well as the resulting diagnosis and treatment was resolved too quickly. It usually takes multiple visits and sometimes some initial stays in a psychiatric hospital to diagnose and regulate medications and months, if not years to create a treatment plan that works for a patient. The psychotic break was believable as well as the character's actions, I just wanted a more believable frame of reference for the diagnosis and treatment. Over all the characters were believable and strong. I could feel compassion for each of their situations.Overall this is a great read and very enjoyable.

While my life is quiet, once I jumped into this story I found myself entwined in the characters’ lives – to the point that I felt I was a silent one among them. Leona Bryant entwines the lives of her characters so deeply with one another, it made me wonder if this were not a real family.The characters are well drawn as are the settings and locales. The interaction between family seemed real. One part in the whole story didn’t feel right to me was the ending given for the sister. When a person has a psychotic break, it doesn’t take 2-3 days and medication to bring them back to some semblance of normalcy. It’s more like 2-3 months to a year or more. I would like to have read the sister’s recuperation was left hanging at the end. She is too quick to “change faces.” Had her recovery and her last admission of guilt been left open ended, it would have a way of leaving the reader wondering how she fared or if she recovered at all. While the main story wraps up deliciously, had the sister’s role been left open, readers would always wonder about the sister. That in itself causes reader to re-think and remember the story. It’s the little details that keep the reader involved, even after finishing the book.Overall I loved this story. It seemed true to life even with the touch of paranormal. Seeming true to life makes it easier to accept all that happens; makes a story of this type seem less farcical or fictional. Despite the heartaches, the family squabbles, each character’s inner and outer turmoil, the main thread of the story just finishes right. I recommend Miller’s Island by Leona Bryant for those who wish to read about characters who deal with what they face in life, for better or worse, and how they overcome personal struggle. It could be real.

What a commitment we make in that moment before God and witnesses! The vows become empty words of tradition when you marry a con man like I did.

Maresca The Wright Brothers by David McCullough is a fascinating book about the obstacles faced by the Wright Brothers in bringing the airplane to market and realizing the commercial potential of flight.The brothers worked out of a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio to realize the first flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903.The Wright Brothers studied birds in flight as many had done previously. People; such as, Leonardo da Vinci studied the mechanics of flight and even designed mechanical flying machines centuries before the Wright Brothers met with commercial success. Overall, this is a wonderful book on a popular milestone in American and Global History.

That is what you have in this Instaread on the Wright brothers. Starting with an overview, we then read a list of eight important people written about in the book and are provided a short bio (one to two sentences) on each one. The analysis gives us the eight Key Takeaways. This gives you a glimpse at the tenaciousness of the Wright brothers who kept trying against all odds. Amazing! Each of the abbreviated eight points is then discussed in more detail over three pages per key.Wilbur and Orville were not the first or last to be inspired by birds but they were the ones "who finally used those inspirations effectively.' Yes, folks were already flying in hot air balloons but crafting a plane "provided a different type of controlled movement entirely." Doubt and criticism plagued them. Did you know that the first flight only lasted twelve seconds? An important lesson to take away from their lives is that despite all the attention and eventual fame, the brothers stayed humble and true to themselves.The book ends with a style analysis detailing how the author wrote the book. Credit is given to him for his job well done.I just LOVED this! I can see this being a great asset to students/adults who may be taking info from a variety of sources. It may well whet your appetite to read the original book. By Caitlin (Kait) Steve Johnson has done a great job helping those of us about to go out and buy a new phone with this simple guide. My husband and I recently got new smartphones, and while I stuck to what tips were included in this book when choosing mine, he did not. Where is he now? He hates his phone. It just doesn't work for him and his personal needs. He bought for looks instead of details, and now we have to go get one that works better for him because he also got one that cannot be upgraded - what's worse! We're on a tighter budget than we were in the first place!Thankfully, this book includes all the little factors someone should keep in mind when getting a new phone; budgets, appearances, service carriers, accessories, upgrades, and most importantly: what do you need the phone to be able to do for you? Do you need one that just lets you do the basic calling or texting, should it have room for a lot of pictures and videos, or will this be a business phone? I didn't know you could get a phone/tablet all in one, either! A phone that's up to six inches screen-wise! Amazing, and I could see something like that being great for someone who works on the go, but though this might dazzle me in the store, it wouldn't have been practical for me (or my quick to grab the new shiny object husband). It's good to keep these in mind, and Steve Johnson definitely impressed that upon his readers.But what impressed me the most was the section that differentiated between Androids and iPhones. This is a huge topic when it comes to smartphones, and a fork in the road when my husband and I buy phones together. He likes his iPhones while I prefer to get an Android. Though I have always stuck to my love for droids and only recently gotten something more simple, I found out a couple of new things about them that would have been helpful at the time of ownership I wish I had known to do. So I sincerely wish - as well as being sure it will - this guide helps those who buy it with little things like that, and keeps it in their heads about buying with their brains and not their eyes!

About the Author Lance Lambert began writing about automobiles during his freshman year of college when he shared his opinion that various cars reflect the personalities of the drivers. Over the following decades his stories have been published in many national and international publications. Since 2008 he has been a featured columnist for Garage Style Magazine, and for 15 years he was a featured columnist for the Journal Newspapers. He began his television career as a cast member in 135 episodes of the "Call Us Now" show, and he has been the host and executive producer of the weekly television series "Vintage Vehicle Show" since 1993. Lance spent many years performing with comedy improv groups and was featured on Comedy Central Network's "Access America." Lance frequently emcees automotive and charity events, and his auctioneering skills bring loads of laughter and cash to many auctions. His automotive background qualifies him as an expert automotive appraiser. Lance was inducted into the Washington Hot Rod Hall of Fame in 2008, and in 2010 he was the recipient of the Lee Iacocca Award from the Iacocca Family Foundation. Lance's greatest pleasure is spending time with family and friends.

It is another compilation of short stories of his personal life like he has been sharing in print publications for years. Most of these stories have never been published, though, and so we get a brand new look into the life of one of America’s quintessential car guys.After spending a good part of a day with my nose buried deep in its pages, it is now part of my automotive mental archives. I obviously found it engaging and it would not allow me to put it down.I “watched” as Lance grabbed guns and kicked in doors or wandered into places uninvited doing things that were a bit edgy, but merely mischievous. Thankfully my garage has a door. Note: Any acts of aggression revealed in this book were always with great cause! Any acts of mischief were done for, well, the urge to get into mischief.Readers will enjoy Lance’s appreciation for friends, family, cars, and the alternative forms of transportation of his youth that make up these personal tales. His stories of old cars guys now passed show his love for friends and “A Daughter’s Tears” revealed a true compassion for strangers. I could praise each of his stories!Mr. Lambert embodies the phrase I use quite often… “We all have stories”. As the title says, there are GRINS as you read it! I think I liked this book even better than the first. The stories were well-written, short & sweet, like the first, but there was a little more danger and excitement to be had. I also found myself getting a little emotional as Lance describes some of his car buddies. Hey -- I am NOT a car person, but even I enjoyed these tales of guys who adore their vehicles -- from bikes to roadsters. This would be a perfect book for a classic car enthusiast, or someone who longs for those "good ole days" when hanging out at the drive-in and trying to impress girls by cruising by in a cool car were the things to do on a Friday night. Bravo Lance!

About the Author Lawrence Lessig is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School, and director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University. Prior to rejoining the Harvard faculty, Lessig was a professor at Stanford Law School, where he founded the school's Center for Internet and Society, and at the University of Chicago. He clerked for Judge Richard Posner on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice Antonin Scalia on the United States Supreme Court. Lessig serves on the Board of Creative Commons, MapLight, Brave New Film Foundation, The American Academy, Berlin, AXA Research Fund and iCommons.org, and on the advisory board of the Sunlight Foundation. By goddess18 Lawrence Lessig has written a timely book for anyone who is concerned with the state of Our Union. There is no way around it, the subject matter is depressing. Our Country is in a bad way and most regular Americans are not really sure what to do about it. This book is a good place to start. Not only do you get a clear understanding of the major problems with excellent historical context, you get suggestions on how to effect change. This book which clearly articulates a problem and then offers solutions resolves the depressing aspect. There are things all Citizens can do, starting today. The book offers suggestions on how to begin with many resources and links. Whatever level your time, energy and resources allow, You will be able to do something to help. Do not be put off by the enormity of the problem. At this point our only choices are to accept our broken, corporate controlled government or as American Citizens have done at critical times in our history stand up and remind others that our Republic is responsible to "The People" alone. This is not a Liberal or Conservative issue. This is not even the 99% vs the 1%, although the 99% are suffering more from the current state of Our Union. I found this book to be an easy and enjoyable read despite the serious subject matter. I strongly encourage everyone to read this important book. As one of the 99% we have to do something. This is a great place to start.

A bleak, but ultimately hopeful, vision for restoring democracy By Olin Sibert Lessig explores the concept of a government responsible to the PEOPLE, as the Constitution calls for, and how the current system of campaign finance has warped it so much toward being a government responsible to the CONTRIBUTORS that even the Supreme Court used those words (in the infamous Citizens United corporation-as-a-person decision). The picture he draws of moneyed influence is truly appalling--all the more so as the influence is almost never overt bribery, but often just hints and signals (as in "if you aren't able to vote for X, I'll have to contribute $1,000,000 to your opponent").Can it be cured? Lessig offers several possible prescriptions, the most serious of which is calling for a Constitutional Convention, and at least while I'm reading the book, I can believe that maybe there's some hope for our republic. There are many good ideas here, and the arguments are rich and comprehensive.Read this book if you want to understand what's really wrong with government, why nothing gets done, why the posturing and pandering grows and grows, and why life is getting steadily worse for the 99% of the population who aren't rich. And--especially--read it if you want to know what you can do to make things better.

Ondrey This is the book many women have been waiting for - it contains all of the thorough, up to date and accurate "doctor" information on surviving a working pregnancy AND all the information you'd get over coffee from your friends who've been through it - and their friends who've been through it (if you had time to go for (decaf) coffee!). It's really a helpful resource for any pregnant woman - working out of the home or not - because of the plethora of relevant and useful information. Great gift for expectant moms.

The Working Woman's Pregnancy Book is a must buy for all new mothers, even those who don't work. As a mom and a nurse-midwife, I recommend it to everyone. I'm buying two copies for my daughter-in-laws.The author covers everything from early pregnancy to labor and delivery to the postpartum period. What I like most are the practical tips for how to arrange your life, not after you go back to work, but before. The author, a woman OB/Gyn, and working mom, even discusses sex!The index is helpful. The text is clear and easy to read. I loved the comments by real patients. Everything is explained intelligently but with common sense, and not in a scary way. I list this book, with four others, in my OB packet. It's a little expensive, but worth it. I love it.Patricia Harman CNM

High Praise for Working Woman's Pregnancy Book By SF Bay Area Reader I've looked at many books at the bookstore and purchased several to see which books provide most pertinent information for working, modern women as they adapt to pregnancy. This book by far offers some of the most relevant, best organized, practical information that I can refer to through each stage of my pregnancy. The anecdotes by other women help you relate to as well as learn from experiences of other women that go through similar dilemmans and challenges in balancing work and life responsibilities during pregnancy. It graciously leaves out some of the very basic information that most women can gain information by simply going to the American Pregnancy Association website (such as basics of nutrition, what is safe/unsafe, vitamins, common discomforts) and sticks to providing you the extra information that actually required further research and data compiliation by the author. It also further offers post-birth tips (i.e. on breast feeding and pumping milk once you return to work, etc.) that will make this book a solid reference guide even after the baby is born. So glad I found this book!
