About the Author Dr. Heather Maguire has a Doctorate of Psychology in Educational Psychology from Alliant International University. Additionally, she has a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Calvin College. She maintains several certifications including Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). In addition to her academic background, Dr. Maguire has had diverse professional experience. She is currently a director at an agency providing intervention services to young children diagnosed with autism and an adjunct professor in the School of Education at Azusa Pacific University. Previously, she served as the clinical director for an agency providing behavioral services to children with developmental disabilities who exhibit behavioral difficulties. She has also worked as a school psychologist, completing psycho-educational evaluations for children with academic difficulties. In addition, she has had experience working as the director of admissions for a private school and as a job developer and job coach for a transition program for youth with disabilities seeking employment. In her spare time, Dr. Maguire enjoys reading, yoga, spending time at the beach, and going on walks with her husband, son, daughter, and two dogs. By Rachel Kristofic Dr. Maguire does an amazing job making some of the most counterintuitive concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) accessible to people who have no or little educational background in the field of ABA. Being a Behavior Analyst myself, I know what a challenge it can be to explain principles like negative reinforcement and extinction to parents and teachers in a way that they can relate to and really understand to the point of application and true utility. I have used this book to assist me in how I communicate the valuable principles to the families who are faced with difficult situations due to problem behaviors exhibited by their children. I also recommend this book to friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who are trying to glean from my knowledge of ABA in order to create behavior change in their children (both children on the spectrum and neurotypical in development), however I don't have the time to spend with them uncovering the principles of behavior, this book is a great resource for them and they absolutely get results when they work through it and stick with it.

Maidenberg, PhD, MPH, LCSW-R, CGP I am impressed by this book and the author's ability to convey the principles in a concise, clear and engaging way. She's incredibly skilled at laying out the ABA concepts so that they are understandable and user-friendly. Being a therapist, I highly recommend this book to many of my clients who want to see effective behavior change in their households with their children. Unanimously they report to me that they find the book so helpful and have witnessed effective results immediately after using these strategies. I have personally used the techniques myself and have seen significant change. I am so thankful to have this book to recommend and to reap the benefits from it personally. Every parent should read it -- it's a masterfully written book.

We use it for training parents and it is really helping to make understand parents the concepts involved in interventions on challenging behaviours. The author has a rare ability to clearly explain ABA principles.
