I grew up on a farm NE of Greeley, Colorado. As a child, I always heard of Horace Greeley's statement "Go West Young Man, Go West." This book gave me an insight to the man and his vision. In one of the essays, he specifically described the Union Colony of Greeley as an ideal way to develop irrigated farming and family life in the West. This is an exceptional historical pbook of the problems encountered in farming in the 1800's.
