About the Author Richard Ganis is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the City University of New York. He is the author of The Politics of Care in Habermas and Derrida: Between Measurability and Immeasurability (Lexington Books, 2011), and has contributed articles to Comparative and Continental Philosophy, Radical Philosophy Review, and other journals.

By KayGee We hear comments about Liberals and Conservatives every day but where did these ideologies come from? I thought I knew – but there is so much more. The author does a good job of discussing doctrines, people, times, places, wars, etc, in an interesting and easy to read format. I especially like how he references other areas of the book – by page number – to help find answers to questions that may come up. This would be a good resource for someone wanting to learn more about historical and current political events or parents who want to help their children understand what are studying. Plainly said, this book is a wealth of information that I will continue to reference. "I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review."

Great way to read about politics for non-political person By Jessica Gilbert Generally when someone starts talking about politics, my interesting immediately leaves the conversation. This is mainly due to the fact that I do not understand a lot that goes along with the world of politics. Frankly, I generally get quite bored. This is an awesome book for people like me!It basically has every term someone might need to understand. It also includes various political leaders from different time periods and countries. Each letter has a few topics underneath them. Each topic has at least a paragraph on it and sometimes pictures to go with it. It is a great reference for someone wanting to learn a bit about politics without going through the "boring" aspects of the term. Great job to the author on making the topic more interesting while still holding to facts. There are a few topics that you can tell the author feels more strongly about but as with every subject, do your own research and don't just go with what one person says.I received this book as a sample to review. The opinions in this review are my own.

By avalentine5601 This is a good way to get a little information on a lot of different subjects. The book is organized in alphabetical order so it is easy to jump to a topic you are interested in if you don't feel like reading from cover to cover. Although it covers a lot of different subjects, it does not go in depth on every topic so if you feel like you are going to learn everything there is to know, this isn't the book for you. I read it and found it to be a nice refresher and reminder of all the lessons I learned in my school days.I think it was well written and organized, my only complaint is the edge of the pages have the letter on it, but it's not staggered for each letter so it's hard to just flip to a certain letter. A couple of subjects I found the author's tone to be a little more one -sided than with others. Overall a good read with a decent amount of information. I received a discount for my honest and unbiased review.
