This book of "recipes and memories," from the author's summers spent at an Oregon lodge in her youth, provides a uniquely fascinating journey back to a more rustic (and simple) time. Throughout the book, the author recreates the experience of spending the week at the lodge in the 70s and 80s in a tone devoid of dewy-eyed nostalgia and maudlin sentiment, providing a glimpse into an idyllic family vacation and life that one can only hope to replicate in a more complicated world.The recipes are evidently authentic - there are no quinoa, arugula or other currently trendy ingredients. No organic items or new cooking techniques are called for, no gimmicks. There are no staged color pictures - only black and white pictures from the author's past. Despite all this, reading the book is an extremely soothing experience indeed.It's great to see that Amazon is carrying small imprint, personal books that resonate with the rest of us.

Juli Tantum has written an engaging history of the recipes and traditions of an iconic Oregon lodge. The accessible recipes are timeless and augmented with interesting commentary about the cooking styles and ingredients of the day. Your mouth will water as you contemplate the simple but delicious dishes, e.g., oven fried chicken, Walla Walla onion-rice casserole, "Roblay's salad," blueberry buckle desert. But this is more than just a cookbook; it's a window into the Lodge experience -- of hot summer days in the Oregon cascades spent hiking, fishing and horseback riding and cool nights spent relaxing and talking about the days activities with friends over dinner. As Ms. Tantum writes, food was (and remains) an integral part of what makes the Lodge experience so memorable. This cookbook will appeal to chefs, kitchen novices, and those just interested in a good read about an era that still lives on.

Lovely Book about Tradition and Food By Jackson Even if you, like me, have never been to an Oregon lodge, you will still savor the story and recipes in this book. It's a loving tribute to the often understated but invaluable art of the classic American family outing. The book is about about family, tradition, and food that brings the family together. The recipes are of familiar food, perfectly executed. These are meals that both grown-ups and kids can enjoy, meals the family can gather around.

So here I found a very wonderful book of smoothies for diabetic patients. My grandmother is diabetic and I prepared several smoothies for her. She loved Raspberry Red Lettuce Smoothie and few other. Smoothies are very easy to prepare and I didn't know this. After reading this book I am thinking about to start a business of smoothies in some cafe. Book illustrates the ingredients in pictorial form which is even more helpful.

I mean that's what's great about health food: it's not only for the sick! And especially as the majority of the smoothie recipes here are so appetizing, you really forget it's really health food...Orwel does it again - combining good chef expertise with health and good nutrition. I think I'll try a large number of the recipes offered here!

This book organizes all the recipes according to fruit colors: red, white, purple, yellow, ect, all the smoothies can be prepared adding chopped fruit or vegetables, ice and other components and blend all the ingredients, and thats it!. I totally recommend this ebook!

So they want to make black women look bad too. Black men don't want to go to school, don't want to work, and want to blame the white man (and now the black woman) for all their woes. Black men do not build or produce ANYTHING, but they will get online and write books and make thousands of videos slandering black women. I am done helping black men. Period. It's over black man.

All it does is divide black people. No black leader would read this garbage, in fact, the men who read this are the ones who will never do anything positive for the black community. They depend on black women to feed and clothe them.If you see this book in someone's house you know exactly where they stand. Cut them off. It is racist propaganda.

I am happy I discovered this book because now I don't have to keep looking for new Indian restaurants. The recipes are very easy to understand and follow. One of my favorite Indian dish is chicken tikka masala. This book provides a great recipe for this dish and many others. You can even find a long list with Indian desert recipes.

In this book the authors describe their original research on the potential of both standard and high-resolution electroencephalography (EEG) for analyzing brain activity in response to TV advertising. When engineering techniques, neuroscience concepts and marketing stimuli converge in one research field, known as neuromarketing, various theoretical and practical aspects need to be considered. The book introduces and discusses those aspects in detail, while showing several experiments performed by the authors during their attempts to measure both the cognitive activity and emotional involvement of the test subjects. In these experiments, the authors apply simultaneous EEG, galvanic skin response and heart rate monitoring, and show how significant variations of these variables can be associated with attention to, memorization or enjoyment of the presented stimuli. In particular, this book shows the central role of statistical analysis in recovering significant information on the scalp and cortical areas involved, along with variations of activity in the autonomous nervous system. From an economic and marketing perspective, the aim of this work is to promote a better understanding of how mass consumer advertising of (established) brands affects brain systems. From a neuroscience perspective, the broader goal is to provide a better understanding of both the neural mechanisms underlying the impact of affect and cognition on memory, and the neural correlates of choice and decision-making.

Erik du Plessis By Erik du Plessis This is the book we all (non-neuroscientists, but keen on neuromarketing) have been waiting for!This book explains not only how EEG works, but how the data is processed and how this is interpreted.Much more than explaining the 'how' it also explains the 'why'.This is really a neuromarketing book with warts-and-all and total academic honesty.The big quote from this book (only on page 113) is: "... there are many unsupported methodologies and claims from private companies that have not published their methodologies in scientific journals".This is not an easy read, so many might just want to read the easier books - especially those that over claim what can be done with EEG - but this one really arms the marketers with questions to ask of a supplier.Well worth the price.Author: The Advertised Mind & The Branded Mind

Delightful children's book with a powerful lesson By TFLReader I read a lot of children's books with my young niece and am always looking for the ones that have positive lessons embedded in the stories. They can be subtle but I like for her to take something away from the things that we read and author Amanda Jacobik's latest is a great one. "Mandy Monkey and the Mirror" is the story of eight year old Mandy the monkey, who is small for her age and who gets teased by some of the other animals. She spends too much time fretting over this, looking in the mirror, and trying to be something that she isn't. She ends up learning a valuable lesson about inner beauty and her own uniqueness. A delightful read with some very bright and well done illustrations. Recommended.

Cooked beans would be much less expensive and frugal, yet this book includes just one page with generic hints for cooking beans.The author needs to return to the drawing board and start the book with how to cook each type of beans.Canned beans are not nearly as healthy as home cooked dry beans. The recipes here are decent recipes, but need to be rewritten to include at least the cup measurement equivalent of cooked beans to equal the "can" so freshly cooked beans can be used instead.

I was hoping for many more recipes using dry beans, but most are for canned beans. I do not use anything canned do to the high levels of BPA found in cans.

About a year ago I donated an entire library of books to an Indian reservation and to a person who restocks private library collections.
