But unlike Robert Corrigan’s, “Rodent Control: A Practical Guide for Pest Management Professionals (2001)” which focusses on commensal rodent (i.e. Norway, roof, and house mouse) control in urbanized environments, Buckle and Smith’s book discusses commensal and agricultural rodent pests as well as delves deeper into technical issues related to rodent management facing environmental and pest managers around the world.Clearly this volume is not designed for the pest control technician looking to remove rats from customer’s house. If that is the reader’s standard for evaluation, then this book is not for him or her. However, I would reject the notion that the pest control technician couldn’t benefit from this book. The chapters on toxicology, biology, disease, and macro-management will help deepen the technician’s understanding and appreciation of these remarkable creatures.
