My heart goes out to James and his wife Renee and their two other children who love and care for Jessica, they accept her for who she is without question! Jessica was born into a wonderful family that wanted to care for her and not institutionalized her, I give them a lot of kudos that shows how much they loved Jessica not to subject her to an awful life in one of those places. I have read in the past how the vaccines we use on our babies and children are dangerous. I remember when my son was a baby how the pads, doctor would hand you a paper to sign and in legalese explaining if your child had a reaction to a vaccine you are to call this number, blah, blah, blah, and you would be awarded $1,000,000,00 for expenses for that child's life. I laughed at it thinking only 1 million dollars??? That will not cover a child's lifetime with medical for expenses. My son, I remember him getting the DPT shot, he ran a fever and was fussy after each shot. I don't think the MMR shot was any better. I remember on one occasion my son got 4 shots in one visit, now I wish I knew back then that was so BAD for an infant! Also the polio vaccine was given orally and was a live virus and it was later changed to a shot 1st time it is administered and then the oral vaccine, children and the adult caretaker were getting polio from the oral vaccine. China even made a better DPT shot after using our DPT vaccine and found it too dangerous to use on infants, so why doesn't our country make a better vaccine for our infants safety?!?!I can also relate to Jim and Renee when Jessica went in for scoliosis surgery, my son has had scoliosis since he was 18 months old and was fused at 12 years old when it had progressed very badly, like Jessica, it was near his heart and other organs were being compromised that he could die from scoliosis. I remember that surgery as it is a very long surgery and afterwards their is a lot of pain and suffering from the fusion and several days NICU and getting them off the vent safely, plus they have a chest tube for drainage from the lung. It is a very scary time for all parents watching their children suffer through this surgery!I will keep Jim and Renee and their family in my prayers. May their love in God keep them strong and blessed.I received a free copy of this book in exchanged for an honest review.

Unselfish Love By Carleen Markivich Lessons from Jessica is an extremely well written book by a father and caregiver of a young woman who has permanent injuries due to a specific childhood vaccination. Before you may get the wrong impression, Mr. Walker in no way entertains the reader to forego vaccinations nor does he make an effort to support vaccinations. Mr. Walker is a father of three children (all young adults now), and he discusses how Jessica's experience has changed not only his life, but each family member's lives. This author has many years of experience in caring for a loved one with permanent disabilities. Jessica requires total care, meaning that everything must be done for her from brushing her teeth, to eating, to toileting. Whether you are looking in to reading this book because it sounds interesting, or because you are or know someone who is a caregiver, I encourage you to read Mr. Walker's first book. Growing up with Jessica is his first book and will give you a more in depth background regarding Jessica and the Walker's everyday care-giving routine. There are so many valuable tips in this book that I would certainly urge anyone who is caring for someone to take a few moments to read this book. The reader will experience the roller coaster of emotions along with the author. I would also recommend this book to medical personnel, not only does it prove to be an amazing example of ultimate care giving, but it teaches you a valuable lesson on empathy. It is a fast paced read and can be finished within a day's time. The Walker's are most definitely a prime example of unselfish love. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Mr. Walker, Thank you for being so intimate in detail and allowing me to enter in to your daily life with Jessica. I wish you many blessings. My heart is overflowing with joy for the unselfish love that you and your family maintain for each other.

Uplifting Book For Caregivers and Those Who Love Them By D B I was interested in this book as I was a caregiver for my mom off and on for a few yrs. when I was in my 20's. It was a very difficult time for me. It is now over, but I look back, and am so grateful I had the opportunity to care for her. I wish this book had been available to me during that time of my life. The chapters are short and it is an easy read. Yet it brings about deep thought. It has helped me to see how to help in situations where friends are now going through this. People care, but they are not always sure how to go about helping. This book gives good insight as to words that are comforting verse words that hurt. He quotes people like Mother Teresa and talks of others lives in how it relates to caring for others. These other stories are very interesting. It was a very uplifting book that showed just how possible it is to love beyond what you think you are able when in situations like this. Caregiving is a very exhausting job, both mentally and physically and he teaches how having the proper attitude makes all the difference. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
