Review Reviewed by Trisha Dawn Daffon for Readers' FavoriteIn My Mother's Footsteps (Summer Heat), we follow Anela. At 22, she has lost her mother and just about everyone else in her life. In this book written by Forbes Arnone, the story starts after her loss. After their falling out and before her death, her mother had arranged a trip to Hawaii for her. The letter explains that she now has the chance to experience Hawaii, just as her mother did, and also to reconnect with the father she thought was dead. After a month, she takes the trip and follows in her mom's footsteps. In Hawaii, her life takes a different turn, just when she thought she had accepted all her losses. What's not to love about In My Mother's Footsteps? There are no reasons on my list because I totally love the book. Forbes Arnone was able to capture my attention with this love story which is fresh and honest to the core. The story was also realistic and believable. I had no trouble imagining it happen at present time. There were some emotions at play and they mixed pretty well. I really felt each character's emotion and I sympathized with them or I'd feel just about the opposite. Anela was such a lovely character. I really felt her loss and I was teary-eyed when things took a surprise turn for her. Yet, I look up to her for being independent and strong. Her chemistry with Christian is undeniable and I cannot help but get sucked in, too. However, the very best chemistry came from the unconditional love and new found life demonstrated in this book. In My Mother's Footsteps has a very good plot and the story was woven quite well. It's such a lovely read. I believe nobody should miss reading this.

Hargrave Shocked by the sudden death of her mother, Anela is gifted a parting surprise; a chance to go back and follow her mother's footsteps and learn to understand and forgive. Anela has been dealt a rough hand, but with time, she heals and moves on, eventually finding her happily ever after.Arnone's descriptive imagery took me back to Oahu; to the pineapple plantation, Hanauma Bay, the Polynesian Cultural Center ... so many great places. And I personally enjoyed the vague references to Anela's reading material. (I might have read the same romantic Scottish highlander tale myself! *coughs*Jamie*coughs*)I really enjoyed this heartfelt novella, and would recommend it without reservation. ~R.E. Hargrave

And does she follow in her mother's footsteps?My Review:They say great things come in small packages and that's exactly what you get with this book and you would never know it's a short story because it's packed full with a beautiful story about loss, love, and family and some exciting adventures! This book is beautifully written and has a perfect balance! I lost myself within the pages and enjoyed every moment of it.. it's a captivating read that really pulls at your heartstrings that you just want to jump in and give the character a hug and tell her "everything is going to be ok.. you'll see!" Not only did I enjoy the characters and the main focal point of the story but there was some really fun scenes that had me laughing.. scenes that had me in complete awe because the author did such a fantastic job at describing the locations and the scenery it all felt so magical and real! You really couldn't have asked for a better book! Oh! and have the tissues handy your going to need them it has the most beautiful ending I've ever seen in a book!***Review has been written in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official***
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Amazing Story!!! By BookLover70 I was truly left speechless by this story. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. I fell in love with all of the characters. One thing I worry about in short works is Character development, but these characters were absolutely perfect (in their human imperfections) and written to make them believable, real, and loveable despite their problems. In a piece like this the story must work and be interesting and the author hit it right on. I've never been to Hawaii but I now feel like I have. I am looking forward to this author's upcoming novel. More great writing and another great story awaits, I am sure!
