An unique wonderful baking book By Andrew'sMom Sesame and Spice is a gorgeous unique baking book with traditional Jewish recipes from various Sephardic and Ashkenazi communities (Spain, Portugal, North Africa, Russia, Poland). Some with a little family story thrown in for good measure.The photos are gorgeous and measurements are in metric. Chapters include: Cakes, Biscuits (Cookies), Desserts, Baking for Passover, Breads, Sweet Doughs, Sweet Pastry, Savory Bakes.Some of the recipes that I would love to try are: Pomegranate and almond cake with rose-scented syrup, Ottoman Sponge cake,Saffron and almond cake with saffron butter cream, Orange flower biscuit rings with pistachios, Halva, rose and sumac shortbread, Peach, vanilla, and muscavado noodle pudding, Syrian pistachio and cardamom cookies, Passover roasted vegetable strudel, Russ and Daughter's legendary New York bagel pudding, apricot and feta spelt crostata with honey creme fraiche, Hungarian chocolate layer cake (wow), Greek orange and walnut syrup cake, citrus lavender syrup cake and well almost everything seems unique and full of interesting flavors.Very excited to dive into this beautiful book.
