Great Photo Companion for fans of The Wright Brothers By Kenny This is a great companion book to David McCollough's new book "The Wright Brothers" (which I also highly recommend). This book contains the collection of photographic plates that Wilbur and Orville originally took during their experiments in the Carolinas and at home in Ohio afterward. It's a great look into their life as inventors and people.This is a small-trim, landscape-sized paperback with 128 pages, which makes it a nice coffee table-style book or gift. There is a short introduction that summarizes the history of the brothers and their accomplishments and then the book launches into the pictures. Each photograph is given its own page with a caption facing it. The captions are all very informative and interesting and follow the story chronologically as Wilbur and Orville start their experiments in 1900 and then rise to fame in the decade to come as the fathers of flight.

I found this book to be a never-before-seen look into the lives of the Wright brothers. The pictures that this book features are really incredible. Anyone interested in turn of the century photography, aviation, or wright brothers history buffs will find this book to be a nice addition to any book collection. A lot of the photos were taken by the Wright brothers themselves, and its fascinating to see what they captured when they began their experimentation with flight. My only complaint would be that the paper quality takes away from the photography presentation, but it is a smaller book and I didn't necessarily expect anything fancy.All in all, for the price, its a nice coffee table book, a good gift idea for any history buffs, or just a relaxing read. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to friends and family.

I loved this book By Maya I loved this book, the pictures in it were really nice and I especially liked how the book was divided into parts/categories. Some of the pictures were of plane/wing blueprints and I thought those images gave me a better look at how the Wright Brothers thought or planned. This book was also put together in an order. It started from the Wright Brothers' first blueprints, and made its way to their first flight. This made it more interesting to read. Learning about their work and being able to see all the different images was very cool. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are a plane or history lover.

What I like the most about this book is that it starts simple with one-ingredient purees, and gradually introduces recipes that have more texture and use the same ingredients that the baby has already had. Before each section of the book (e.g., 6 months, 7-8 months, 9-11 months, etc), there is some good information about food choices, textures, quantities, and similar, that I found useful... I have read many baby food books, and I believe that this one is one of the better ones. Highly recommend it.

This book is excellent for the following reasons:- Separates food introduction by ages: 6 months 7-8 months 9-11 months 12-18 months- Recipes are simple to follow(believe me I am not an expert on cooking and I was able to make it) and above all they are healthy.- Tips on food introduction, finger foods and alerts on possible food allergies.The recipes are really yummy and I even tried some of the recipes myself.

This is the first book to be written about the Navy's role in the success of the Arab Revolt in the creation of the legendary figure of Lawrence of Arabia. Following extensive and detailed research into the activities of the ships of the Red Sea Patrol by the author, a maritime historian and former Merchant Navy officer, it has become evident that, without the work of those ships, the Arab revolt would have failed and T E Lawrence would have remained an obscure officer in the military bureaucracy of Cairo.

About the Author

Vaclav Smil is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Manitoba. He is the author of more than thirty books, including Harvesting the Biosphere: What We Have Taken from Nature and, most recently, Made in the USA: The Rise and Retreat of American Manufacturing, both published by the MIT Press. In 2010 he was named by Foreign Policy as one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers. In 2013 Bill Gates wrote on his website that "there is no author whose books I look forward to more than Vaclav Smil."

Vaclav Smil covers the spatial dimension of all major energy sources. The comparison helps to understand the gigantic challenge to transition todays primarily fossil fuel-based energy systems to renewable energy systems.Any sceptics of the book should keep in mind that this topic is extremely complex and needs to be viewed from many dimensions. Openmindedness is key to learn most from it. This book is a must read for everyone interested in energy.

1 of 4 people found the following review helpful. MEGO By Patrick L. Boyle Undoubtedly the worst of the many books that I have read by Vaclav Smil. Most of his books are pleasant reads. They are dense with facts but still well written. This one however has a high MEGO quotient. It is about a way to measure energy that he hopes to get others to use. It is not so much about energy as the measurement of energy. It is filled with figures but it does not lead to conclusions that the intelligent layman is interested in. It is basically a aimed at other economists as a treatise on measurement.MEGO - My Eyes Glaze Over.

By Lauren Penner What I like about this cookbook is that all the ingredients are common, everyday ingredients. The ingredient list doesn't go on forever, nor do the instructions. Fast, delish, and easy!!!! I am a vegan cookbook hoarder and I have tried stop buying cookbooks. But I am really glad I bought this one!
